The Narrative: A Journey of Discovery

   These studies represent a pivotal moment of transition in my studio practice. Originally intended as a roadmap for a larger canvas, these works on Hahnemühle bamboo paper eventually led me toward a new creative direction.

   Though the final canvas was set aside, these pieces stand as a complete meditation on the architecture of a rose. I used the tension between deep red and blue pigments to explore opacity and translucency, layering acrylics to find the threshold where shadow becomes light. They are artifacts of a search—the quiet records of a path explored and a destination changed.

The Philosophy: Wabi-sabi and the Artist’s Hand

   In keeping with the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi, I have chosen to preserve the physical "scars" of the creative process. The slight distressing and paper-skinning along the edges—born from the removal of masking tape—are not flaws, but markers of a life lived in the studio. They represent the beauty of the imperfect and the authentic friction between the artist’s hand and the material.

これらの習作は、私の制作活動における重要な転換点を象徴しています。当初は大型作品へのロードマップとして描かれたものでしたが、この探求を経て、私は新たな表現の方向性へと導かれました。

最終的にキャンバスへの移行は見送りましたが、これらは「薔薇の構造」に対する一つの完結した瞑想です。赤と青の顔料を用い、アクリルを幾重にも重ねることで不透明さと透明度の境界を探り、影が光へと変わるその閾（しきい）を追い求めました。

また、「侘寂（わびさび）」の美学に基づき、制作過程で生じた縁のわずかな毛羽立ちや剥離を、スタジオでの手仕事の証としてあえて残しています。不完全さの中に宿る真実味と、一つの道を見極めた瞬間の静かな記録を、この紙の質感と共にお愉しみください。
