@tomoorihara is a contemporary artist based in tokyo, japan

drawing inspiration from contemporary portraiture, figurative sculpture, and their filipino-japanese heritage, their practice explores the human expression of bimbo stoicism and skin sovereignty through two defining lenses:

01 // the collective form
the recurring female figure is never isolated. florals serve as a physical manifestation of sorority, feminine community, and connection.

02 // the sovereign boundary
the heavy, physical application of tactile elements serves as a velvet rope. hyper-femininity and sensuality are never presented as a performance for the viewer; they are declarations that stem from a self-governed and self-pleasing territory, completely detached from the external gaze.
